"Smile About It" is the second single from Australian-British-Irish boy band, Weekend. It is taken from their debut album Fired Up. The song was released in March 2012 via CD single and digital download. The song was released through Angel Music Records, it was written by Dustyn Blue. "Smile About It" was produced by Georgie James. The single became the group's first number 1 single.
Background[]
The song was written solely by Dustyn Blue in December 2011. He decided to write the song as all of the previous songs written by/for the group had been upbeat pop songs and he wanted to create a more laid back smooth R&B song. The lyrics were inspired by their song Everything About You. This was due to the lyrical content of that song in which they sang about a girl they adored, so Dustyn wanted to create a song that sounded like Part II of Everything About You. This song is the only one that will appear on their album that has been solely written by a member of the group.
Chart Performance[]
The single was released in March 2012 prior to the release of their debut album Fired Up. It will not be released in America in March due to Everything About You only just being released there. In its first week, it debuted at No.11. One week later it climbed to Number 1, holding Vanity's 'Jesus' off of the top spot.
